The system allows full-text search through the entirety of the digitised content with support for BOOLEAN and PROXIMITY operators to ease searching and satisfy the more sophisticated needs of demanding users. It also allows filtering and searching through Author/Title/Date Range/Publication metadata. Advanced search options allow specifying detailed search criteria, which can be added or removed easily.

The Display of results shows thumbnails of the original scans, with highlighted zones where each result is found. The user can also see any metadata related to the matched result and a small synopsis. Content that requires a purchase displays a shopping cart icon which guides user through buy process.

Content can be viewed in two different views:
ZoomView allows a detailed view down to the last pixel of huge documents without a speed penalty. The size of the document is not important as only progressive information is downloaded when needed so an 500 MB document is displayed as quickly as a 0.4 MB document. Zooming to more details is smooth and fast transition where the only limit is actual scanned resolution of source files. In ZoomView you can also add notes, Add Citations and share content.

Handle large documents like maps, with low bandwidth usage

Book view displays multipage documents as a virtual book, where the user can flip pages, zoom to articles and view highlighted search queries directly on images.

When the user finds material they wish to bookmark for later viewing, they can add it to their Personal Library area, where they can add searchable comments and tags.

Notes can be created at selected locations which can be shown or hidden easily from menu on the left. Notes can also be shared with other people.

If permissions allow it, special hyperlinks can be created to link directly to content without required login with username/password. So called “OpenURL viewer” can display content as zoomView or bookView.
