It also allows filtering and searching through Author/Title/Date Range/Publication metadata. Advanced search options allow specifying detailed search criteria, which can be added or removed easily.

The Display of results shows thumbnails of the original scans, with highlighted zones where each result is found. The user can also see any metadata related to the matched result and a small synopsis. Content that requires a purchase displays a shopping cart icon which guides user through buy process.

Options for each hit are:

  • View pages with hits - Only pages with search results are shown instead whole issue. All search results are highlighted and can be accessed quickly (Zoom View).
  • View all pages - Whole issue is shown, search results are highlighted (Zoom View).
  • View as a book (with flipping) - This view allows viewing pages in a simulated book view with capability to turn pages.

View

Content can be viewed in two different views:

ZoomView allows a detailed view down to the last pixel of huge documents without a speed penalty. The size of the document is not important as only progressive information is downloaded when needed so an 500 MB document is displayed as quickly as a 0.4 MB document. Zooming to more details is smooth and fast transition where the only limit is actual scanned resolution of source files. In ZoomView you can also add notes, Add Citations and share content.

Open URL

If permissions allow it, special hyperlinks can be created to link directly to content without required login with username/password. So called “OpenURL viewer” can display content as zoomView or bookView.

Number of options are available in while creating new OpenURL:

  • Type of view (zoomView & bokView)
  • Scope (whole issue or selected page)
  • Expiery (none, after N views, expire on date)
  • Include personal notes

OpenURL format can be customized to include URN and other metadata. Our default setting is format in “tiny” URL, which for example looks like this:
